Organic Lifestyle is More Than Eating Organic: Take It From the Pratts

Getting your lifestyle shaped by organic choices isn’t as easy as I thought it would be, but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth a try. Unlike what most people think, it’s not just about opting to eat organic, it goes way beyond the food choices. Want to know the best part of it?

I get to teach my boys a lesson about lifestyle choices, how to save up, and we often have the sustainability talk. This means there’s wise choice in lighting (think of LEDs!), no wasting water, no unnecessary shopping sprees, no purchasing of clothing when we don’t need it, and when we shop we make sure it’s durable.

Additionally, there’s more cutting down on costs, and not having to fret Ethan or Noah throwing tantrums for toys in shops, or donating toys for that matter, like other kids I’ve seen. Teaching kids early on about this is crucial.

Recently my husband was in need of a new pair of shoes after using the old ones for more than three years (a personal record for him). So we went on the quest for the ideal street wear boots. Since he’s a fan of urban clothing, Clarks desert boots it was. The combination of timeless style, with prime choice of materials, like beeswax leather atop crepe soles, stitched detailing in a mid-rise fit design, is what makes this street wear boots iconic. And timeless too.

I don’t have to say he’s worn his urban boots mens Clarks on every occasion possible, and they’ve proven to be just the quality we’re looking for, so it’s made me think of getting myself a quality pair too, which is how I ended up with Wood Wood’s The Jil in my closet, made of soft leather and thick rubber outsole. All I have to say about the purchase is I’m done with shoe shopping for years to come.

As for the kids, it’s almost always time for new footwear, since they grow up fast, but we were able to save up by having Noah wear most of his older brother’s shoes, and outfits, so the focus is on durability, as much as on no toxins, or lead used in their production. When it comes to clothing, I’ve already mentioned bamboo before with the boys’ pajamas, and what started with them quickly spread into bamboo everything.

I’m not going to lie to you, I was a skeptic at first, hearing all the benefits of bamboo fabrics sounded too good to be true to me, but after really reaping the benefits myself, I now choose it over every other fabric; I’ve even succeeded in turning some friends into bamboo fans by giving them bamboo gifts. Take it from me, buying quality products pays off!
