Tips to Create a More Relaxing Backyard

Tips to Create a More Relaxing Backyard

Thanks to Miss Corona, we are spending more time at home than ever before. This means we need to create our happiness by thinking a bit differently and being creative. So, if you still don’t feel comfortable about visiting packed spas and resorts, what about creating a personal chill-out oasis in your very own backyard? This could be a beautiful place to relax, enjoy a family meal or entertain guests (safely, of course).
With a few handy tips, you can create a backyard oasis where you and your family will love spending your days and nights without having to mix with the crowds of people in public spaces.

Add the Element of Water

The sound of running water is not only reflective and soothing, but it also adds a beautiful touch to your backyard oasis, whether big or small. If you are on a budget, adding water to your backyard oasis can be done by installing a self-contained fountain. If the budget allows, you can install waterfalls or even a hot tub. What could be more soothing and relaxing than a soak in a hot tub? Whether is a tub for two or a 4 seater hot tub, hot water and bubbles is the perfect recipe for relaxation.
When choosing a hot tub, it’s important to get the right size for your space and needs. That said, a two-person hot tub is perfect for couples and small decks, while a six-person hot tub is designed for big families and spacious backyards. There’s also a golden mean – a 4 seater hot tub is perfect for those with limited space but who still want to cater for guests.

In addition to the number of seats, you may want to think about what kind of seat do you prefer. Many hot tub models come with a lounge seat that puts the body in a reclined position. While you may love the feeling of being able to stretch out in a long seat, keep in mind that these seats generally take up more room than a regular upright seat. So, decide if you want to maximize the number of seats, or prefer to have different seating options in your hot tub.
When it comes to features, in addition to jets, adding a fountain or a waterfall feature to your hot tub is always a crowd-pleaser. During the day time, it will add an extra element of beauty to your backyard oasis, and at night you can add some colourful lighting to really make your water feature pop. For ambience, you can also opt for underwater or floating lights for the interior of your hot tub. Many brands offer colour-changing lights.

You’d Want the Element of Fire Too

There is nothing better than a fire pit or a fireplace to add instant warmth to your yard, especially during the cooler months or in the evenings. It’s very relaxing being able to talk with friends or family next to a fire or cuddling with a partner as your stare at the flames. With the range of portable fire pit models available on the market these days at reasonable prices, it has never been easier to create a sitting area around a pit. Just make sure you don’t place a fire pit near any structures, under a roof, or on a wooden deck.

Make Sure to Get Comfortable Seating

Seating is one thing, but a deep seating set, loungers or lounge chairs really allow you to stretch out and relax. When you choose a seating that is comfortable, you’re more likely to kick back and spend some time outside, rather than for example, sit down at a patio dining table, eat something, then go back inside because you don’t feel comfortable enough in those chairs. For some serious relaxation, consider getting a hammock.
For when your furniture is not in use, make sure you get outdoor setting covers to protect your investment from the harsh outside elements.

Provide Shady Spots to Cool Off

Sitting under the direct sun is a no-no and you know that. So, to enjoy your backyard oasis you’ll need some sort of protection against the sun rays. Here you can be creative as there are endless ways to protect against the sun. For instance, you can create shady spots by adding umbrellas, pergolas, mature plants and even arbours planted with vines

Decorate with Colourful Flowers

One of the best ways to bring life to outdoor spaces is adding a touch of colours with flowers. Put out some pretty concrete pots in your outdoor seating areas and grow your favourite plants. To add excitement and drama to your backyard consider bright, bold, flower colours. For a more relaxing, soothing feel, add harmonious colours, which are colours of the same pallet. Consider planting shrubs to keep away unwanted views.

Make It Fun for the Kids

If you have children, consider saving a corner in the backyard to create the ultimate children’s playground or sandpit. You can try building a teepee that can be used as a shaded play area or a mini campsite. You can also place pavers in a hopscotch pattern and let the grass grow in between. This way the pavers will act as a pathway for your garden as well as a fun activity for your children.
Don’t let this COVID-19 pandemic ruin your programs. With your backyard oasis, you will be able to enjoy quality time with your family, even without going out!
